Biography

Since his birth at the stroke of Midnight on November 14th 1980, Daniel I Russell has been attracted to the darker way of life. Raised in the north west of England in Wigan, he was an avid reader as a young child. Growing up in the era of horror bestsellers, the birth of video nasties, cinema blockbusters and bad hairstyles, it's no surprise that he ended up shocking and repulsing for a living.
Throughout high school, Daniel had foolish dreams of being a professional bass player. With the lack of a band, he enjoyed English Language classes and devouring Point Horror novels as well as works by King, Koontz, Laymon and Barker. His assignments took on a violent, darker tone that was more then the typical teenage angst. Daniel displayed a flair for the grosteque, and a penchant for gore. Following school (and several years finally on the band scene), Daniel decided to return to his love for the written word, scribbling down short stories during free periods while teaching Physics and Chemistry.
Daniel has since been published at such sites as Necrotic Tissue #1 and Afterburn SF, and print publications Hold That Thought, Midnight Echo 3, Malpractice and Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine and audio podcasts such as Pseudopod 199. In 2006, Daniel entered into a publishing relationship with Wild Child Publishing and saw him include short stories in Decimate and Weirdly 2. This led to the release of horror-thriller Shutterbug (currently unavailable) and the horror novel Samhane. 2010 sees Samhane released in print with Stygian Publications, and a novella Come into Darkness out by Skullvines Press. Editions of both books will be available through Germany, Austria and Switerzland with Voodoo Press.
In 2009, Daniel took the biggest step of his life by leaving England and moving to South West Australia. Following which, he was appointed as associate editor at Necrotic Tissue print magazine to work alongside R.Scott McCoy and John P Wilson, and being promoted to technical editor in 2010. He lives in Manjimup, WA with his published horror partner Sherie, step children Mason and Amity and his son Tobin.
Daniel is always working on a novel while still cranking out the short stories. Please see the bibliography/store sections for details of his available works.
Daniel is represented throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Michael Preissl Literary Agency.
